April Newsletter: Hands and Knees
Springtime… been in effect, go get a late pass… step… consider yourself warned!
So, what do we have going on, you ask? A whole lotta rockin’, a tad bit of rollin’. It’s now time to get back the respect you lost last month at Cancun Spring Break ’09 when you and your BFF slurped jello shots off each other for our straight to video “documentary” by checking out one or more of the following Midriff oriented events.
April is Hands and Knees month. On April 28th Midriff Records will release the new Hands and Knees disc titled “Et Tu, Fluffy?”. “Et Tu, Fluffy?” is a collection of songs with the band at their most endearing. The album combines campfire pop with jangly guitars and moments of truely unexpected noise. Hands and Knees’ clever songwriting and sincere performances showcase the band’s mature understanding of modern pop, all the while presenting those ideas in a playful upbeat manner. It’s really quite insidious and very fucking brilliant. You are doing your self a disservice by not familiarizing yourself with this band and this album. There are some events going on around town in conjunction with the albums release that you will want to attend. River Gods will be hosting an “Et Tu, Fluffy?” listening party to kick off the album’s release on Tuesday April 28th at 9 PM. The event will be DJed by the auditory genius and discerning spinning of The Brobots. Two days later (April 30th for the slow) our friends at the Boston Band Crush Blog will help us present the “Et Tu, Fluffy?” live record release show at Great Scott in Allston, MA.
