HANDS AND KNEES

Hands and Knees are the “type of band that could make you stop what you’re doing and walk up to the front of the stage to see who is making that wonderful racket” — NE Performer
They bring their “jangly, beautiful dissonant melodies” to Boston and to cities all along the east coast, and have made a name for themselves for their raw, upbeat shows featuring the boy/girl vocals of Joe O’Brien (guitar) and Carina Kelly (bass).
Joe and Carina met in the desert of New Mexico some time in 2004, writing very small songs that they mostly kept to themselves. A few years later, they regrouped in their native Massachusetts with Carina’s childhood friend, Scott Hoffman (lead guitar), and formed Hands and Knees. Philip Ilatovsky originally on drums, leaving in 2009, where Nicholas Brannigan took the throne. The band released theirSelf-titled debut album on California’s Banazan Records, and continued writing about he things they love and recording the songs they want to hear. The subjects of these songs include jumping off of bridges, the Charlie Rose Show, the night city sky, voodoo, pain and suffering, and some other true things, though they try to keep even the fake things inspired.
They have shared the stage with the likes of Drug Rug, Tulsa, Wye Oak and many more. The Band teamed up with Midriff Records in 2009 with their second full length, Et tu, Fluffy? and continue to create some of the best records this side of the hemisphere.
