The Spanish Armada is a five-piece noise-rock outfit from Boston, MA featuring members of Kipper Tin, Charlene, The Fens Furniture and Pending Disappointment, all of whom came together in the name of constructing and/or demolishing sings. The music provides a setting for the introspective, often dark lyrics that tell stories of abandonment and remorse, and of a feeling that you are not quite where you think you should be. Their songs tend to work together, although no in a traditional linear fashion. They circle and swirl, hinging on reminiscent tones and noises, like hazy memories of things that have yet to happen.
Listing influences and sound-likes invariably proved momentary with this band. For reference, however, they’re best suited towards fans of somber lyrics, post-rock structures and layered noises… feedback, distortion, ambient tones and other effects and accidents.
We like to think of Spanish Armada’s songs as lullabies for those who sleep at the bottom of oceans.
